Each year AutoCAD for Mac releases an update that includes new features and improvements to existing tools. 2017 includes enhancements to the user interface, including a new toolset palette, a new Quick Access–like toolbar, and a tab-based working area. > Tech > Showing and Hiding AutoCAD Toolbars. Author: rkmcswain October 8, 2012. If you have ANY docked toolbar visible, right click in an empty toolbar area (but not on a visible toolbar), and from there you can choose a toolbar from the menu that appears. Each loaded menugroup will be listed.
- [Instructor] The new Quick Access Toolbar…isn't set in stone.…And like the Windows version,…allows us to customize the Toolbar…to our liking and workflow.…I'll right-click on the Toolbar here,…and choose customize Toolbar.…From here, I have two different ways…of editing the Toolbar.…I can drag and drop the individual components…and design my own.…Or, if I mess something up too greatly,…all I have to do is drag the default Toolbar…back up to the top to reset it.…I'm going to remove the navigation items here,…as they're not something I use often.…
I typically use the mouse and the wheel.…I do want to add the group options,…which I'm going to place right here.…We have the option of either adding a single space,…or a flexible space,…in between the different groupings.…The flexible space will expand and contract…as the screen real estate moves back and forth.…I'm going to add this as a space here.…And I'm going to add in the overkill and purge commands.…Before I close the window,…I have the option here of showing the icons only…
Issue:
After starting up AutoCAD or during normal use, the ribbon or other toolbars are missing, blank, or have disappeared.Causes:
- Clean Screen is toggled on.
- The ribbon is accidentally turned off or set to auto-hide.
- Toolbars are accidentally turned off.
- AutoCAD workspace has not been selected or has changed.
- CAP 2020 changed workspace settings when installed.
Solution:
Turn off the Clean Screen feature in AutoCAD
The Clean Screen feature maximizes the drawing area by hiding the ribbon, toolbars, and palettes. Press CTRL-0 (zero) to toggle the Clean Screen setting. If the command line says CleanScreenOn at this point, press CTRL-0 again to turn it off.
Turn on the ribbon
On the command line, enter the RIBBON command to restore the ribbon. If the view mode of the ribbon also needs to be adjusted, click the cycle button to the right of the ribbon tab to cycle through the panel views.

Install AutoCAD updates
See: Install Updates, Add-ons, and Enhancements.

Update video driver
See: How to update to the latest certified video driver. If the graphics card is not certified and the latest driver does not fix the issue, the problem could be hardware-related. Consider installing a certified graphics card or consider running AutoCAD without hardware acceleration (see Starting AutoCAD-based products without hardware video acceleration).
Reinstall .NET Framework and Visual C++
Remove and reinstall the .NET Framework (or update to the latest version on Windows 10 systems) and Visual C++ (see How to remove and reinstall the Microsoft .NET Framework and How to remove and reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries).
Log in to the computer as the local administrator
High restriction on user accounts can inhibit AutoCAD functionality (see Unable to run AutoCAD as a restricted user).
Repair or reinstall AutoCAD
In Programs and Features within the Windows Control Panel, run a repair of AutoCAD. If the repair does not fix the problem, then do a reinstall. If the reinstall does not help, then fully uninstall and reinstall the software (see How to repair or reinstall an AutoCAD installation).
